Health Assessment of Individual

It is always desirable to prevent health problems, than to allow them to develop and then treat. But, many a times people come to the health professionals with health problems that have already occurred. They need their illhealth problems to be analysed, diagnosed and treated.

In both situations, either for prevention or for cure, we need to understand the person’s actual health condition. To do that we may ask questions as, “What has happened?” “When did it happen?” “How it has happened?” so on and so forth. The answers to these questions help us to plan health care activities which may be promotive, preventive, curative, restorative or rehabilitative. These activities carried out to identify the individual’s health problems and health needs are together called “Health Assessment”, which you have already learnt in the theory In this we shall discuss “Health Assessment of Individual”, as it is applied to actual nursing care situations.
